| ECUMENICAL EARTHQUAKE APPEAL PAKISTAN
On the first year anniversary of the Pakistan earthquake, Ecumenical Commission for Human Development wishes to thanks for an extraordinary generosity in aiding our relief efforts. Your donation has helped our Relief & Rehabilitation Team to rebuild communities in the remote and mountainous region of Mansehra and adjacent areas, where 90% of infrastructure was completely destroyed.
The Pakistan earthquake was one of the toughest challenges ever faced by the world. The earthquake left 80,000 dead, 100,000 injured and nearly 4 million people without shelter.
Within days of the earthquake, Ecumenical Commission for Human Development’s Relief & Rehabilitation team was on the ground providing life-saving assistance for those in dire need, ensuring that basic shelter and food were provided.
Following is a quick summary of how Ecumenical Commission for Human Development used your money and many other donations to help the people affected by the devastating earthquake.
Shelter: With the onset of the harsh Himalayan winter, the emergency shelter programme distributed hundreds of winterized tents, blankets and sleeping bags, as well as multi-purpose materials used as insulation for shelters to over 500 poor widows and female headed families. Door-to-door assessments ensured that all vulnerable people in Ecumenical Commission for Human Development’s area of operations had emergency shelter. Few families in our target villages built their own shelters. Ecumenical Commission for Human Development provided these households with information about how to make these shelters more comfortable using locally available materials. |
